The Material Area Open & Close is responsible for functional components like Hinges, Lid Stays, Drawer Slides, Drawers and features like damping and push-open items belonging to the opening systems.
Open & Close related items are often playing a crucial part in the buying decision as the end consumer often judge the quality and the functionality of the furniture after its performance. IKEA Components is also represented in the IKEA Category Open & Close with a category leader defining and setting the long term Open & Close related strategies for the total IKEA.
IKEA Components has since year 2001 been deeply involved in the IKEA range development, standardisation and the supply of Drawers and Drawer Slides to the IKEA suppliers. Our product development has resulted in several IKEA unique solutions. We are cooperating with the world leading suppliers located in Europe and Asia, both for the production of IKEA unique solutions as well for supplier models.
Our way of working with Hinges, Lid Stays and Sliding Doors is today the same as for Drawers and Drawer Slides. Our suppliers are spread within Europe and Asia and the majority of the Hinge volume is packed into fitting bags by our production units together with other components.
Our ambition is to build up a competence centre within the whole segment of Open & Close functions. By being a competence centre, IKEA Components is expected to deliver outstanding product quality in all dimensions. We offer market unique prices and optimal supply performance on a global basis and secure fulfillment of IWAY and GHP. We are also well integrated with the IKEA Creating process developing innovative IKEA unique solutions.
